THE AREA
Framlingham is ideally situated to visit many traditional Suffolk towns and places of historical interest.
Orford has its own castle, an interesting quay, antique shops and Pinney’s Restaurant and shop, popular for their smoked fish and meats.
Along the coast is Aldeburgh, famous for its fish and chips, a thriving seaside town with many unusual boutiques and gift shops. Southwold is also worth a visit.
Further inland Snape has an array of shops around the famous concert hall and Debenham is noted for its antique shops and nearby Teapot pottery.
Woodbridge and Sutton Hoo are also nearby.
Another interesting day out is a visit to Minsmere Bird Reserve, about a half hours drive away.
Framlingham has a very good gastro pub, The Station and also an excellent restaurant ‘Off the Square’. There are also lots of country pubs offering food in the surrounding area.
There are plenty of brochures, local guide books and maps on the bookcase in the annexe to help you decide how to spend your leisure time.
